Active filters

The most common uses of chlorides are in ice melting, road dusting, water filter cleaning, cosmetics and stain removal.
Sodium chloride melts ice to -9, mixed with potassium chloride melts ice to -15, calcium chloride melts ice1 to -35. Magnesium chloride has the least effect on the feet of the animals because it does not dry out the skin and does not crack it.
Perchloroethylene, or tetrachloroethylene, is used for spot cleaning. This compound is excellent at dissolving grease and dirt and does not fade colours from clothes, and is therefore widely used in dry cleaning.
