BS6580 Corrosion Inhibitor is a cost-effective aqueous super-concentrate that can be used to formulate coolants that provide freeze and corrosion protection. These coolants are recommended where cost is a priority. As the composition of the corrosion inhibitor is fully organic (using OAT technology), it does not contain additives such as nitrites, amines and phosphates. The coolant is also free of silicates and borates. In this way, the coolant also contributes to a safer environment. The coolant is made with the corrosion inhibitor BS 6580, which allows for economical and suitable cooling for a wide range of systems. It is recommended to change the coolant every year.

Coolants formulated with BS6580 corrosion inhibitor offer the following advantages to the user:

Recommended use of corrosion inhibitor BS6580: mix 6% by weight of corrosion inhibitor with propylene glycol or monoethylene glycol. This provides year-round protection against frost and corrosion. It is recommended to use at least 33 % of this mixture in the final coolant solution. This provides freeze protection down to - 20 °C. Concentrations above 70 % are not recommended as maximum freeze protection (about - 69 °C) is obtained at 68 %. If frost protection is not required, BS6580 can also be used in water by adding 3% by weight of water.

Coolants manufactured with BS6580 corrosion inhibitor comply with British Standard BS 6580:1992 and BS 6580:2010 * * * For products containing at least 25% 1,2-ethanediol (MEG) and supplied as packaged goods for retail sale to the general public BS 6580:2010 requires the addition of a minimum of 25ppm of denatonium benzoate (bitterness) or the packaging must have a child-resistant screw cap. The product also complies with the following standards: ASTM D3306, as well as the Chinese industry standard NB/SH/T 0521-2010 and the national standard GB 29743-2013 LEC.

The product should be stored at temperatures above -5°C, preferably at ambient temperature. Exposure periods above 35°C should be kept to a minimum. As with any coolant, it is not recommended for use with galvanised steel pipes or other galvanised parts of storage/mixing equipment. BS6580 Corrosion Inhibitor can be stored in unopened containers for a minimum of 2 years without affecting product quality or performance. It is highly recommended that coolant in transparent containers should not be exposed to direct sunlight as this may degrade the colour of the paint in the coolant, resulting in colour fading or discolouration over time. This reaction may be accelerated if accompanied by high ambient temperatures. Due to the highly concentrated nature of the corrosion inhibitor BS6580, the product contains defoaming agents.
