C12-14 ethoxylated alcohols are non-ionic surfactants belonging to the group of ethoxylated fatty alcohols. INCI name: Laureth-7. The product establishes a group of surfactants based on lauryl alcohol. It is a clear to slightly cloudy liquid and max. 70 on the Hazen scale at 50 °C. Laureth 7 is used as a secondary surfactant in the preparation of detergents and cleaners as well as an emulsifier. It can be used in oxidizers, reducers and hard water. It works in cold water, acidic, neutral media and dilute alkalis. Laureth 7 can be used in combination with other non-ionic, anionic, cationic and amphoteric surfactants. Alkyl sulphates demonstrate synergistic alkylaryl sulfonic scavenging and purification.
Advantages:
- Excellent detergency, wetting, emulsifying and dispersing properties,
- high degreasing properties,
- resistance to acids, hard water and dilute alkalis,
- Compatible with non-ionic, anionic and cationic surfactants,

In the cleaning industry, Laureth 7 is used in the production of household detergents (liquid detergents, powders, dishwashing detergents, handwashing detergents), for the removal of oil stains from knitted and crocheted fabrics, in bleaching baths in the textile industry, in wash baths after dyeing of fabrics, and in automotive cleaning products.
In cosmetics, ethoxylated C12-14 alcohols are used in the manufacture of products for washing, conditioning and styling hair (shampoos, conditioners, serums, gels, mousses) and in the manufacture of coloring cosmetics (powders, liquids, bronzers, eye shadows), facial care products (face wash gels, scrubs, moisturizers, acne creams, anti-wrinkle creams, eye creams), lotions and gels for body washing, hand creams, shaving and aftershave products, sunscreens. Its functions (INCI):
- Emulsifying : Promotes the formation of intimate mixtures between immiscible liquids by modifying the interfacial tension (water and oil)
- Surfactant : Reduces the surface tension of cosmetics and contributes to the even distribution of the product when it is used
In school experiments, ethoxylated alcohols are used in surface wetting experiments, in experiments on the art of "magic milk", in comparisons of cleaning power, in experiments on the formulation of emulsions7.
