Extracts are also known as tinctures or infusions. Alcohol is most commonly used, due to its volatility and speed of extraction, but alcohol-based extracts become biologically inactive because the alcohol denatures the active components. In order to preserve the most valuable properties of the plant, another alcohol, glycerol, is used as an extractant. Glycerol-based extracts may be called glycerites. Our glycerin-based products have several advantages over alcohol-based tinctures:

  • Glycerites are ideal for those who choose not to drink alcohol for religious, scientific or personal reasons.
  • Unlike alcohol, glycerol does not denature or render inert many biologically important botanical components.
  • Glycerol-based plant extracts help to preserve the full integrity of the original plant used to make the product, thanks to the microencapsulation of glycerol from the extracted components and ingredients.

Camellia sinensis leaf extract, otherwise known as green tea extract and is derived from the leaves of the plant. Green tea is considered to be one of the antioxidants that protect skin and hair from the damaging effects of free radicals. The extract has a systemic skin-improving effect by acting on many areas of the skin simultaneously. This ingredient is natural, derived from plants using a glycerite extraction technique, thus preserving the full spectrum of its beneficial components.

In cosmetics, this ingredient acts as a very strong antioxidant agent to moisturise and protect the skin from environmental factors. The active ingredients in green tea extract help to inhibit the loss of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid in the skin, which helps the skin to retain moisture better, resulting in a softer, more supple and radiant complexion. Topically applied green tea extract helps to tighten the pores of the facial skin, reducing the risk of acne. Green tea extract promotes wound healing and has an antiseptic effect. Green tea extract helps to improve blood circulation and skin hydration, reduce dandruff and increase skin density and elasticity. Green tea extract is rich in active substances such as vitamin C, vitamin B2 and vitamin E, and various minerals, including zinc, which is essential for skin health. The ingredients in green tea extract improve the skin's overall condition, hydration and texture, leaving it smoother and softer. The catechins in the tea also have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and help to protect the skin against UV damage and inflammation. Green tea extract improves skin microcirculation and protects intracellular lipids. The extract is used in cosmetics for the following properties:

✅Antioxidant benefits: protects against free radicals.

✅Skin radiance: Gives the skin a more radiant and luminous complexion.

✅Skin Brightening: Traditionally used to promote clear skin.

✅Anti-inflammatory: Helps reduce skin inflammation.

Recommended concentrations range from 1% to 20%, depending on product type. Its functions (INCI)

  • Antimicrobial: helps to slow the growth of micro-organisms on the skin and neutralises microbial growth.
  • Antioxidant: inhibits reactions stimulated by oxygen, preventing oxidation and deterioration.
  • Astringent: helps tighten skin pores
  • emollient: softens and smooths the skin
  • Moisturiser: maintains the water content of the cosmetic product, both in its packaging and on the skin.
  • Mask : Reduces or suppresses the odour or main taste of the product
  • Oral care/hygiene product: Provides a cosmetic effect on the oral cavity (cleansing, deodorising and protecting)
