Extracts are also known as tinctures or infusions. Alcohol is most commonly used, due to its volatility and speed of extraction, but alcohol-based extracts become biologically inactive because the alcohol denatures the active components. In order to preserve the most valuable properties of the plant, another alcohol, glycerol, is used as an extractant. Glycerol-based extracts may be referred to as glycerites. Our glycerine-based products have several advantages over alcohol-based tinctures:

  • Glycerites are ideal for those who choose not to drink alcohol for religious, scientific or personal reasons.
  • Unlike alcohol, glycerine does not denature or render inert many biologically significant botanical components.
  • Glycerol-based plant extracts help to preserve the full integrity of the original plant used to produce the product, due to the micro-encapsulation of glycerol from the extracted components and ingredients.

Zingiber Officinale (ginger) root extract, also known as ginger root extract, is a natural ingredient derived from ginger root. This extract has strong antioxidant properties that help protect the skin against free radicals. The extract contains active components that stimulate blood circulation, skin renewal and hair growth and firmness, and it has anti-inflammatory properties. This ingredient is natural, obtained from plants using the glycerite extraction technique, thus preserving the full spectrum of its beneficial components.

In cosmetics, this ingredient acts as a very powerful antioxidant and strengthening agent, soothing irritated scalp and body skin and protecting it from environmental factors. It contains a diverse blend of bioactive ingredients such as gingerol, zingerone and essential oils, making it a valuable addition to products designed to rejuvenate and revitalise the skin. It is very rich in sodium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium and iron (1,2 % in the root alone). It is also rich in vitamin B1 (thiamine), vitamin B2 (riboflavin) and vitamin B3 (niacin). Ginger contains corresponding amounts of copper and manganese and smaller amounts of iron and zinc. The flavonoid kaempferol in ginger extract should not be overlooked. Ginger extract fights inflammation in the body and helps improve microcirculation, which is important for healthy and beautiful skin. In addition, ginger has antiseptic properties. Ginger extract is recommended for controlling acne and other skin problems. When used as an ingredient in a mask, ginger quickly and noticeably improves blood circulation. The oxygen supply to the cells is improved and the skin immediately looks younger and fresher. Ginger extract stimulates the natural synthesis of collagen and elastin, resulting in younger-looking and more radiant skin. The appearance of the skin is improved in the long term. Ginger extract may be beneficial for irregular or very pale complexions. The ingredients in ginger extract dilate the pores, making it ideal as a deep cleansing activator, as subsequent cleansers can work more effectively. One of the drawbacks of using ginger in cosmetics is that its effect is quite intense, so it is not recommended for sensitive or irritated skin, rosacea, sore or injured skin. To check whether ginger extract is safe to use, it is recommended to test the product on a small, inconspicuous area of the body before actual use. The extract is used in cosmetics for the following properties:

✅Antioxidant effect: protects against free radicals.

✅Traditionally used to soothe irritated skin.

✅Blood circulation support: Supports healthy blood circulation.

✅Aromatic experience: Aromatic fragrance: gives products a warm and refreshing scent. Recommended concentrations range from 1% to 20% depending on the type of product. Its functions (INCI):

  • Masking : Reduces or suppresses the odour or main flavour of the product
  • Skin conditioning : Maintains good skin condition
  • Toning : Gives a feeling of well-being to the skin and hair
  • Fragrance: used for perfumes and aromatic raw materials.

In animal husbandry, ginger extract is used in a variety of veterinary preparations for the care of animal skin and coat, is commonly found in luxury animal skin care products, and in some cases in teat care products for dairy cattle, both pre- and post-milking.
