Castor oil is derived from castor seeds. Here, it is hydrogenated to change its consistency at room temperature and become homogeneous: this makes it a waxy substance. It is then used in many cosmetic products as an emollient, film-former or excess lubricant. Ecologically authorised.

In cosmetics, exfoliating particles are used to enhance the natural renewal process of the skin. Mechanical exfoliation in the form of exfoliating particles is one way to help this process for a healthy dermis. Exfoliating particles are a natural, environmentally friendly and easily biodegradable alternative to polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) microplastic exfoliating granules. It is made from renewable and GMO-free raw materials. Its cost-effectiveness and numerous benefits make it an ideal scrubbing product. Advantages of hydrogenated castor oil scrub particles:

Natural exfoliating particles exfoliate as well as or slightly better than the perfectly round PE beads and other hydrogenated oil-based beads (see pictures) commonly found on the market. At the same time, their unique structure does not have the sharp edges of other natural alternatives such as sugar, kernel or shell pieces, which makes scrubbing painless.

The recommended use concentration is 0.5 - 10%, depending on the application area and the desired abrasive power. INCI Key Features:

• Emulsifying: Promotes the formation of intimate mixtures between immiscible liquids by modifying surface tension (water and oil)
• Skin conditioning: maintains good skin condition

• Viscosity control: increases or decreases the viscosity of the cosmetic

In the cleansing industry, the hydrogenated castor oil scrub is used for the production of abrasive pastes, where particularly gentle exfoliation is required. In many cases, the oil particle abrasive is used in restoration pastes designed to clean the surfaces of vintage furniture or vintage car interiors without damaging the original paint and varnish layers.

In schools, HCO is used in abrasivity testing experiments, such as RDA tests, for comparison with other abrasive materials.
